A DAY IN A LIFE

I want to feel the electric current

of unadulterated emotion

sans the substances of indifference

to feel my strength

my insecurity

my greasy imagination

my easy needs

my seedy desires

my sleazy fears

To sail the currents of thought and doubt

without numb, chilled out, Teflon detachment

To touch the edge

and embrace the middle

fully awake

thrilled, excited, afraid

brave, courageous

no rainbow blinded eyes

To fly on the wings of Hell

through loves apathy

and land at compassion’s door

to dance on the floor of failure

and sing a new song of confidence

To wrestle the sins of neediness

to cut the ties of narcissism

and cry like a baby man

Leaning on the spirit of life

learning the choices of change

learning the courage to choose
